Republic Day Flower Show at Lalbagh – Part 1

If you already haven’t visited the flower show at Lalbagh, I would urge you to do so at the earliest. To get there, enter Lalbagh (from any gate) and walk right up to the Glass House. This year’s flower show is probably the best one that I have seen in all these years. It’s simply mind-blowing! And, if you are interested in macro-photography it’s a dream come true. Once you’re done with the main exhibition hall, visit the sidelines where you can find a plethora of stalls selling exotic amla based products, aloe-vera based products, packets of seeds for flowers and vegetables, decorative earthen pots, potted plants, pickles, chutney, and even insect repellent screens. Quite overwhelming to absorb. Prepare to spend at least two to three hours to enjoy this mega show.

Tip: Try and get there early in the morning to beat the crowd. And, please keep the premises neat and tidy.

Don’t miss it.

The flower show and this blog are intimately related. Strange, but true! Walking down the memory lane, one of the earliest posts on this blog was of last year’s flower show. You can read that entry here: Republic Day Flower Show – 2005.

  1. My my what lovely pictures, I must visit the Rashtrapati Bhavan gardens in feb when they open for public but what a pity, they do let you take a camera inside. That pot with flowers on it looks smashing.
