For reasons best known to him, Vinayak, out of the blue, wanted a “gorgeous” haircut. A few weeks ago, I had made the mistake of mentioning “Habib’s hair-cutting saloon” and “gorgeous” in the same sentence. These necessary and sufficient conditions in place, off we went in search of Habib’s hair and beauty saloon at the Shoppers Stop outlet on S.V. Road, Andheri (W). Be warned: Habib’s is a very elusive outlet within the Shoppers Stop premises. We finally tracked it down after interrogating a fair number of store-hands. If Goutham were here, he would instantly recognize it as a place for “culturally confused citizens.”
Before we knew it, our hair was being cut. Before we knew it, our hair was already cut. Then we saw the bill; 350 bucks a head! A silent cry of “Vinayakkkkkk…” went through my head. Somehow, Vinayak managed to negotiate the amount down to 350 * 2 - a 20% discount = 560; 560 + VAT = 628 => 314 bucks a head. At least we did save 36 bucks a head. And we are not going back there again - ever.
The only good thing on this outing: the quick detour we took, prior to our hair-cut, to devour some Belgian-chocolate dessert. Yummy!

It is slightly cheaper (300 rupees only)…But for the hitchhiker’s guide fan, it does not have the words “Dont Panic” in large friendly letters!
