Masinagudi Resort

During our weekend trip to Bandipur – Madumalai – Ooty – Talkaad, I and Avinash halted overnight at Masinagudi. We were greeted by this view in the morning. If you happen to be in Masinagudi and need accommodation head over to:

Mountania Resorts
Mountain Rest House
Masinagudi, Nilgiris

Tel: (0423) 2526337, 2526267

Update: March 08, 2005

An e-mail query about Mountania Resorts led me to write this brief:

Mountania Resorts in Masinagudi is a good option to stay overnight. It’s not posh by any standards, but it’s a decent enough place to stay in. The rooms are clean and tidy. Standing in the resort, you have an amazing view of a nearby mountain (which is part of the Ooty ghats). Early morning, this view takes your breath away. It’s worth staying in this resort just for this view. You might have already seen a picture on my website.

Personally, we stayed at this resort during our Bandipur – Madumalai – Ooty trip. It was late in the night and we did not want to risk climbing the ghat. At night we got a guide at the resort and went out for a night safari in our Santro. The night safari is a real treat too! So if you are going by your own vehicle you can do a whole lot of things keeping the resort as your base camp. You can even trek up the mountain. It takes about a day.

All in all, a good experience. Let me know if you need to know anything specific.
